Ribbons

The Ribbons Project (2023) was an installation at Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity, created as a response to bomb threats sent to the Beit Ahavah synagogue that is one of the two congregations that call Bombyx home. It was featured on the front pages of the Daily Hampshire Gazette and the Boston Globe. Over several weeks, I distributed ribbons and markers to the dozen or so arts groups that regularly used the building, as well as concert attendees, and asked them to write messages of support and care. With a team of volunteers and Bombyx staff, I installed these 150+ ribbons on cables suspended across the sanctuary. We gave the installation as a gift to the rabbi and congregation of Beit Ahavah. This material reminder of our interconnectedness and shared longing for peace became part of the holiday decorations for Beit Ahavah during Hannukah and Florence Congregational during Christmas.
